Braised lentils with chorizo

This time let's prepare a very traditional dish: stewed lentils with Toluca chorizo , a delicious dish that cannot be missing from our tables, since it is very filling and is great for having a good time with the family. This quick and simple grandmother's lentil dish can be prepared overnight and will be more delicious. As you can see, these stewed lentils are very complete and nutritious for the whole family because they contain vegetables, ribs, chorizo and legumes. I'm sure you'll like it!



 

Ingredients:


  • 400 grams of lentils

  • 250 grams of pork ribs

  • 1 Piece of green pepper

  • 4 tablespoons fried tomato

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 1 jet of oil


Steps to follow to make this recipe:


1. We prepare all the ingredients. We wash the lentils under running cold water.


2. Put a saucepan on the heat with a good splash of oil, add the ribs in small pieces and brown them over high heat.


3. Once the ribs are browned, lower the heat to medium heat. We cut the chorizo into slices and add it to the ribs. We sauté it.


4. Add the rest of the grandmother's lentils ingredients to the casserole: the pepper in a piece, the peeled and whole onion, the bay leaf and the fried tomato, and stir.


5. We add water and lentils to the pot and start cooking the legumes.


6. Add a little salt and half a teaspoon of cumin (optional) to the stewed lentils.


7. Let it cook until the easy stewed lentils are ready . When they are ready, we will taste them for salt and rectify them.


8. If you like them thicker and want to use the vegetables, grind them and add them to the stewed lentils with chorizo , which will give them a lot of flavor.
